After being really disappointed with the Ghost Hydra P+, I gave this a try for my Shadow 2 based on an online recommendation. I absolutely love it!
The holster, hanger, and packaging all scream quality. Fit is great. The hanger positions the gun well and has a lot of adjustability. The holster provides a nearly frictionless draw. The active retention is super positive. It leaves lots of room for big optics and gas pedals if that’s your thing. I’ve been using it for months with no noticeable wear, unlike on even nice kydex holsters I’ve used in the past.
I can’t recommend it enough!

This holster is fantastic and the customer service and Big Dog Steel is top level. I ordered a 2011 holster and found out that my 2011 would not work in their holster within hours of placing the order.
I contact Ryan who then contacted the manufacturer of my 2011. They modified the holster to work with my 2011 and shipped it too me super fast.
I will order from them again just based on the customer service.

I was lurking in various forums trying to make a decision on a holster. A member posted a very positive review, but it was his short video clips that convinced me to give it a try. Within 2 days of receiving holster I was sold on the rig. I ordered two more for other pistols. Most models are make/model specific. The 2011 model is the exception. I wasn’t sure if it would fit the Staccato XC with the integrated comp. Ryan, the BDS owner, quickly replied and said that he looked at the specs and that it should fit. Let me assure anyone with an XC that is considering this holster, it fits perfectly. I’m not sure why these holsters aren’t blowing up. Ordering is easy, delivery is fast, and the rig is fantastic.

I have many of the big name holsters and this one is definitely my favorite. Draw is silky silky smooth and the locking mechanism is the best I’ve owned. Give one a try you’ll like it.

I couldn’t possibly agree more with all the 5 star reviews!! The smoothest holster to draw from I have ever seen! And it has a locking function should you choose to use it! If I had anything negative at all to say, it is that at first their may be a slight drag at first if you have aggressive slide cuts. However just a few hours of practing your draw it will be so buttery smoothe its just insane. If your thinking about one of these amazing holsters, Just get it NOW ! You won’t be disappointed!

There’s a lot of features to like about these holsters that were apparent when purchasing it, such as easy on/off for retention (not some tiny tab like most race holsters), an affordable hanger option (similar Boss option is $80+ and not as robust), marking on the outside to identify what gun it is for (much appreciated by someone with well over a couple dozen guns), etc.
After receiving the holster, I can tell you what I love about it… the hardware! The holster utilizes a square head and indent on the inside of the holster so gone are the frustrating times where you somehow needed to get a tool inside the holster to switch hangers, belts, positions, etc. Everything about the holster is above par but the hardware and design is a hole in one. And it’s stainless steel not some cheap I don’t know what it is metal.

It’s a great holster for my CZ shadow 2, it’s a very solid holster. The retention is a great held my pistol in place securely. Very smooth during draw and you could adjust the how loose or tight with a retention knob. The holster hanger is solidly built, highly recommend for competition.

After thoroughly researching competition holsters to death I decided to go with the Carnivore for my Shadow 2 because I knew it would fit with my thumb rest. It has been perfect! I love it so much I bought another one for my Rival S. However, I did need to do a slight bit of Dremel work for the thumb rest on the Rival to fit but man did it turn out to be perfect too! If you want a competition holster that locks snug and draws silky smooth…….this is the one.

I’ve used Redhill Tactical, Precision Holsters, GX Products and more. Tits is the best holster for competitions period. I use it in USPSA, PCSL (2 gun), IPSC and more. Never binds or sticks for a perfect draw every time.

Ordered for PDP polymer. Can confirm it does NOT fit the polymer. I was under the impression that the steel frame was wider. Fixed with a little dremel work and fits like a charm. This is one the best holsters I’ve used and I’ve spent thousands on holsters. No friction on the draw and smooth locking ability. Perfect for competitions. I feel like I’m finally done searching for holsters. When the atlas one comes out I’ll be getting that as well. Feels to be the strongest plastic you can buy. You won’t regret your purchase.

It’s so good I never thought of another holster when I shopped for a new Shadow 2. Started with the full setup for a PDP Steel Match and then got one for Shadow 2. The locking mechanism is the best part. There’s no way a firearm is coming out when you are not shooting. Compared to the Ghost Hydra +P where the lever can inadvertently get moved this one locks for good. The adjustability and construction is also top notch. I was bummed that they didn’t make one for my Springfield echelon and had to go with something else.
